Turn your Christmas dessert into a showstopper with this easy pavlova wreath, inspired by chef Mary Berry. Light, airy, and topped with seasonal fruits, it’s the perfect dessert to impress guests while staying on budget. Best of all, it costs less than £10 to make for up to 10 people. Here’s how to create this festive treat.

Ingredients (Serves 8–10)

For the Meringue:

  • 6 large egg whites (~£1.80)
  • 350g caster sugar (~£1.20)
  • 1 tsp white wine vinegar (~10p)
  • 1 tsp cornflour (~10p)

For the Topping:

  • 500ml double cream (~£2.00)
  • 200g frozen mixed berries (~£2.50)
  • 1 tbsp icing sugar (~10p)
  • 50g dark chocolate shavings (optional, ~£1.00)

Steps

  1. Make the Meringue:
Preheat the oven to 140°C (120°C fan). Line a baking tray with baking paper. Draw a large circle (30cm) and a smaller inner circle (15cm) to guide the wreath shape. Whisk the egg whites until fluffy, then slowly add the sugar, one spoonful at a time, until glossy. Gently mix in the vinegar and cornflour.
  2. Shape and Bake:
Spoon the meringue onto the tray, shaping it into a ring. Bake for 1 hour. Turn off the oven and let the meringue cool inside to stop cracks forming.
  3. Whip the Cream:
Whip the cream with icing sugar until it holds soft peaks. Spread it thickly over the meringue.
  4. Decorate the Wreath:
Add berries on top and sprinkle with chocolate shavings if you like. Finish with a dusting of icing sugar for a snowy look.

This delicious dessert is a winner for the Christmas table—light, affordable, and easy to make! At just £1.50 per serving, it’s the perfect way to sweeten the season.
