Client poem: A helping hand

Person reaching out for help with hand

This July, Clean Slate, home to Quids in!, celebrates 20 years of helping people become better off. To celebrate, Readers Club is handing the pages over to the people at the heart of our work. These are real stories from peers, clients and colleagues who found hope, practical support and the confidence to regain control.

Sometimes the hardest part of asking for help is worrying that we will be judged, ignored or made to feel like a burden.

For one Clean Slate client, that was not the case. They described the support they received in a poem, writing:

“I’m putting this out there no need to ask why, the company Clean Slate I urge you to try.

They’ve helped me immensely, there’s more to come yet, and Clean Slate are helping me get out of debt.

They offer advice and are always on call, they don’t make me feel like a nuisance at all.

They tend to just listen whilst I babble on, the service they offer is second to none.

Whilst life can be a challenge for me and for you, so why not try Clean Slate they always come through.

It’s only a phone call, they’ll set up a meeting, and what a surprise with their wonderful greeting.

And once they have helped you there isn’t a doubt, this company Clean Slate they won’t leave you out.

With great things to offer it might sound insane, they’ve helped me before and I’ve gone back again.”

Worried about debt? The sooner we ask for help, the more options we may have. Quids in!’s debt page explains where to start, what support is available and how to take the first step without facing it alone. Even one phone call or one bit of advice can help us feel less stuck.
