My kids get free school meals. Now that schools have closed will I be able to get help towards the cost of feeding them?

The government guidance to schools is to continue supporting pupils that are entitled to free school meals.

Each school will have a different scheme, and this will vary from school to school. The suggestion to schools is that meals can be prepared as usual and taken directly to families, and food parcels may be prepared for collection or delivery. If this is not possible, vouchers or even e-vouchers may be sent out. Your school should contact you and let you know what support they are offering.

In many schools, free school meals will still be available, but this will not include the universal free school meals given out up to Y2. So those with children this age or below will need to check if they are eligible on their local council website.
