Quick cash and flexible working hours may be the answer to tighter budgets
Lots of us are looking to top up our income through a side hustle to make ends meet.
‘Side hustles’ describe work we do in addition to our main job. Or it could help to tide us over between jobs. We can choose when to work and how often.
Some side hustles could leave us £200 a month better off. No wonder almost one in three Britons have a side job!
There’s no need for special talents or business savvy minds. There is something out there for everyone.
Find out which side hustle is right for you.
Selling goods
Re-selling items is a great side hustle because it requires little to no commitment and can be on our own schedules. We can sell clothes, furniture, or jewellery online (sites like vinted, ebay, gumtree) or at a car boot sale.
We can also turn our hobbies into business opportunities. Check out etsy for selling handmade goods like jewellery, artwork, and other crafts.
Delivering food and people
Have a bicycle, bike or car? Food delivery could be just the job. Earn anywhere from £8-14 per hour through couriers like deliveroo and ubereats.
If we prefer more of a social setting then we could register as a driver for services like uber and bolt with average earnings of £20.48 per hour.
Animal care
No vehicle? No problem. Get those steps up and give dog walking a try through rover or scampsandchamps. If mobility is an issue, pet sitting can be a good option, earning similar to walking at around £15 an hour.
Online surveys and focus groups
Sites like ipsosisay or swagbucks offer Amazon vouchers for completing surveys and sharing opinions and thoughts on products and services.
Focus groups are harder to come by but they can collect gains up to £200. Find the right focus group at moneysavingexpert.
Quids in! offers a free and simple quiz to help us on the road to finding a job. It’s called the Job Readiness Quiz and it can give us helpful advice about how to move forward.
